9th December 2017 – Mount Royal University – Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Calgary holds a “Building Bridges, Sharing Knowledge” event with all the Treaty 7 Nations of Alberta at Mount Royal University in Wyckham House. Representatives at the event included Chiefs, Councillors, Elders, faculty members, students and members of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at. Purpose of the even was to respect and honour each other’s spiritual, cultural and historical values. The event saw a total attendance of 250 guests which included 150+ indigenous guests.
Treaty 7 Nation were represented by the following:
Chief Jason Good Striker, Represented Kainai first Nation
Councillor Francis Butch Wolfleg, Represented Siksika First Nation
Elder Dila Houle, Represented Piikani First Nation
Councillor Hal Eagletail, Represented Tsuut’ina Frist Nation
Thomas Snow, Represented Stoney Nakda First Nation
Michelle Robinson Represented Slave Dene (NWT Treaty 5)
Bashir Islam, Represented Islam (Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at)

Alvin Manitopyes from Plain Cree moderated the event while Elder Clarence Wolfleg did the opening prayers.


In order to maintain diversity, speakers were given different topics to talk about Dila and Butch spoke on Education. Michelle on 60’s scoop, Thomas on Education, Hal spoke on Treaties while Bashir Islam spoke on When Nations Gather.
Marcia Big Snake presented memorabilia to brother Asim Hanif.
